This is a CG movie that depicts saltation and growth of life in the sea using jewelry as the motif for illustrating the theme “Jewels of Sea.” It creates mystifying and attractive scenery by the ores resembling creatures of sea and its transforming refraction and reflection of light that are affected by the organic moves. ——- Tetsuka Niiyama 2012

Haven’t we all been introduced to the phrase “sex sells” about a million times? I, for one, have questioned the method and thought to my self; how would a Tom Ford billboard with a pair of boobs, squeezing an Eau de Cologne make a man go to the first shop and buy it, rather than go home and have a wank? Surely no one would assume the aesthetic pair of tits would come with the purchase? None the less, questioning the method behind these ads doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy controversy. I do! Here’s a few of my favourite controversial ads throughout time.

Kasey McMahon created this provocative self-portrait using steel, CAT5 and other data cables. Titled “Connected,” the life-size sculpture is perhaps a graphic representation of how our society is bound by digital culture.

Big Appetites

Today I stumbled upon these miniature figures posed in real food environments. The concept is thought out by Christopher Boffoli, inspired by London based artist Slinkachu.  “referencing both a cultural fascination with tiny things as well as an American enthusiasm for excess, especially in the realm of food.” Follow the link to find more silly and querky captions from the same series http://bigappetites.net/

Believe me when I say that the whole Alice in Wonderland theme makes my eyes turn all the way to the back of my head as much as the next person. I don’t think Mr. Burton could’ve ever forseen what a disastrous hurricane-effect he created after his poor attempt to immortalize an already immortal fairy tale. Having said that, I think these photographs taken by Lissy-Elle make a refreshing exception to the endless parade of rabbit holes, Queen of Hearts, Mad Hatters and what more. In these photographs she serves you a different story in each capture with a surreal touch.
